Otherwise, there are three marinas licensed as official ports of entry for private yachts, and only one other official island port, the marina at Old Bahama Bay at the west end of the island, 25 miles from Freeport.

By Boat
If you arrive by cruise ship, ferry from Florida or on the mail boat from Nassau, you will come ashore at Freeport Harbour, five miles west of Freeport proper. Several cruise ships call here every week, including the MSV Discovery Sun , a quadruple-decker passenger ferry/cruise ship taking a daily five-hour route between Fort Lauderdale and Freeport, with casino, swimming pool, buffet meals, games and floorshow (US$179 round-trip; phone 1-800/937-4477 in Florida, 1-800/866-8687 in the US and Canada and 305/597-0336 elsewhere, ). The ticketing office in Freeport is located at the Tanja Maritime Centre (phone 242/352-2328), on Queen's Highway near the Port Facility.

There are five full-service marinas in Freeport/Lucaya, three of which are official ports of entry to the Bahamas. Dockage rates range from 75 cents to US$1.50 per foot/per day. All have electricity and fresh-water hookups, as well as showers, bathrooms and laundry facilities.
