Paradise Island beaches are famous for their swimming and
sunbathing. At the far western edge of the island, Paradise Beach is
nicely secluded, though lined with resort properties that charge
swimmers a small fee. More spectacular is three-mile-long Cabbage
Beach , one of the longest in the Bahamas, a sunny pink stretch that
links the inlet at the Atlantis to Snorkeler's Cove. Because of the
trade winds along the beach, parasailing has become very popular
here, often resulting in a brilliant display of sails outlining the
glowing horizon.
East of Cabbage Beach, many in-shore snorkelers head to Snorkeler's Cove
, though more intrepid enthusiasts pay a visit to Rose Island,
Southwest, Razorback and Booby Rock reefs , easily reachable from
Hurricane Hole. Several boat operators also offer half- and full-day
adventures out to these reefs, with Barefoot Sailing and Sea-Island
Adventures running a regular schedule of snorkeling and swimming
excursions.
