North of the city, and just above the Kensington Oval cricket ground, the Spring Garden Highway heads up along the west coast, skirting the beach almost all the way to historic Speightstown in the far northwest.

Much of the area immediately north of Bridgetown is given over to industrial production, including a couple of rum factories that are open for tours.

To the northeast is Tyrol Cot, the former home of Sir Grantley Adams.
