Good home cooking, large portions and ery reasonable prices are
features of all the island's restaurants. Lobster (in season)
is sered in every imaginable dish, from curry to chow mein;
seafood is generally good alue, accompanied by rice or
potatoes. Otherwise, evening entertainment mostly consists of
relaxing in a restaurant over dinner or a drink, or gazing at the
tropical night sky. You can buy food at several shops and
supermarkets on the island. Many houses also adertise banana bread,
coconut cakes and other home-baked goodies, and there's a good
bakery on the street leading to the football field.
Thevillage's restaurants include Marin's Restaurant,
along the main street one block back from the shore, which has a
shady outdoor dining area and is great for breakfasts and seafood.
Around the corner, at the southern end of Front Street, Tropical
Paradise seres good-quality Belizean and American-style food in
a comfortable ac dining room. At the back of the island, Glenda's
is a faorite breakfast meeting place, sering great cinnamon rolls.

The island's best restaurant, the Sand Box, by the main
dock, seres Italian/American food and is often packed. Just beyond,
the Happy Lobster, seres good-alue local dishes. Walking
north along the waterfront, you'll come to a proliferation of
beach bars and restaurants . The Oceanside Restaurant has
good food and serice and occasional lie music, while further on
the Rainbow Restaurant, on a deck over the water, and
Sobre Las Olas, are the best of the restaurants this end of the
island. |
