 All buses between Belize City and Chetumal pass through
Corozal, roughly hourly in each direction. The Northern Transport
bus depot (phone 422-3034) is near the northern edge of town, opposite
the Shell station; Novelo's buses stop on 4th Ave, north of the
park. Maya Island Air and Tropic Air operate daily flights
between Corozal and San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Jal's travel agency
(phone 422-2163), at the southern end of town, beyond Tony's, can
organize international flights. For reliable tourist
information, visit the Corozal Cultural Centre (Tues-Sat
9am-noon & 1-4.30pm; phone 422-3176, www.corozal.com), housed
in the restored colonial market building in the waterfront park,
just past the new market. The centre also holds a museum
(US$1.50) with imaginative displays depicting episodes in Corozal's
history. |

Scotia Bank, on the southeast side of the main plaza, offers the
best value for cash advances. The post office is on
the west side of the plaza. For domestic flights and organized
tours to local nature reserves and archeological sites, contact
Henry Menzies at Menzies Tours (phone 422-2725). Stephan Moerman (phone
422-2833), a French biologist, arranges tours to Cerros and Bacalar
Chico National Park, at the north end of Ambergris Caye. A couple of
fast boats now run daily between Corozal and San Pedro, Ambergris
Caye (US$20 one way; 1hr 45min); call 614-7351 or 606-8207 for
