Returning to Belize City
(2-3hr), Southern Transport buses (phone
522-2732)
leave every hour or so from 5am to 5pm; most go via
Belmopan, some travel along the Coastal Road. James Bus Line
doesn't have a terminal, but departing buses (currently 4 daily in
each direction) pass along the main street. If you're continuing
south , bear in mind that buses to Punta Gorda (4-5hr;
eight daily) don't necessarily originate here and delays are
possible. All buses to Punta Gorda stop at Independence (2hr)
- also known as Mango Creek - where you can pick up boats to
Placencia.
There are usually two daily Z-Line services from Dangriga to
Placencia (2hr-2hr 30min), but departure times are continually
changing (they currently leave daily at 11.30pm & 4.30pm) at least
one calls at Hopkins (40min) and Sittee River .
Dangriga is served by flights on Tropic Air and Maya Island
Air every couple of hours to and from Belize City, continuing south
to Placencia and Punta Gorda.

For Puerto Cortés in Honduras
a fast skiff leaves each Saturday at 9am (US$50; 3hr) from
the north bank of the river, two blocks up from the bridge; be there
an hour before departure with your passport so that the skipper,
Carlos Reyes (phone 522-3227), can take care of the formalities. |
