moving on from Belize City by bus couldn't be simpler. Most of the bus companies are in the same area, along the Collet Canal and Magazine Rd, a short walk from the centre of town. We've listed all the routes from Belize City, including frequencies and duration under "travel details".

Tours
Most inland day tours from Belize City visit two or more of the following: The Belize Zoo, Bermudian Landing Baboon Sanctuary, Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, Lamanai ruins and Altun Ha ruins. All but the last of these places are very easy to visit independently, though in some cases you'll need to stay overnight. even when you include the cost of accommodation you're still likely to save money by doing it on your own. If time is short and you'd prefer a guided tour then contact any of the travel agents we've listed or independent naturalist guides David Cunningham (phone 222-4400) or Mary Avila (phone 223-1270).

Bus Companies and Depots
Most of the bus companies and bus departure points are in the same area, along the Collet Canal and Magazine Road, a short walk from the centre of town. While the main bus companies have their own depots, there are numerous smaller operators with regular departures but no contact address or telephone number. At the time of writing, Noelo's, the largest bus company in Belize (formed by a takeover of Batty's Venus and Z-Line buses), was about to consolidate its operations from a new depot close to its existing terminal at the junction of Cemetery Road and West Collet Canal Street. Confusingly, although the companies taken over have been renamed, they don't use the Noelo's name. See below for details and if you're in doubt about bus times or departure points check with Noelo's on 227-7372 or 227-3937
