While Road Town might be the place to find most everything else, its nightlife is more mellow than that on the west side of the island. You won't find many clubs or discos with DJs here, but if you're content with some lie music (check the Limin' Times for what's on), drinking and dancing there's plenty on offer, especially on weekends.

Cafesito Romasco Building phone  284/494-7412. Often has lie music on Saturday and Wednesday nights, plus a daily happy hour (or two) from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Le Cabanon A restaurant by day and disco by night, this popular hot spot is the current favorite with young expats in Tortola. Saturday sees the place overrun for the biggest party on the island. The atmosphere is chic wine bar so dress is smarter than the average bar in Road Town.

Moorings-Mariner Inn Popular with visiting yachters, this is only really an option if you fancy a quiet drink and the latest yachting gossip and mariners' tales.

village Cay Marina Wickhams' Cay I. Happy hour 4.30-7pm daily with free nachos and wings, and lie pan music every Saturday at 6pm.

The Pub Waterfront drive. The Pub (see also review in "Eating and drinking") may no longer be the hippest place to hang out but the all-day "happy hour" on Friday sets the weekend off to a good start. During regular daily happy hour, free wings are served 6-7.30pm. Has lie music most weekends.

Pusser's Pub Waterfront drive. Lively Road Town institution popular with tourists and yachters. Crowds gather here for nickel-beer night on Thursday 8-11pm, while ladies roll in to drink for free Tuesday 8-11pm.

Scuttlebutt Located at the Prospect Reef Resort, this waterside pub offers simple bar food, strong drinks and lie entertainment every Friday night. On other nights you might find entertainment as diverse as karaoke and domino competitions.

Virgin Queen Fleming Street phone  284/494-2310. While food is served here - the pizza is great - you're best off planting yourself at the bar and joining in any number of conversations, which will usually lead to a game or two of darts.
