Much of the scene on the western side of the island revolves around the monthly full-moon parties at Bomba's Surfside Shack - or lie reggae music and dancing. If your tastes area are more low-key, you won't have to look too hard to find relaxing pan music or the simple sounds of an acoustic guitarist.

Bomba's Surfside Shack Cappoon's Bay phone 284/495-4148. Bomba and his driftwood shack are legendary in the British Virgin Islands for their monthly full-moon parties, when hundreds of people pack the streets in a bacchanalian frenzy of dancing and drinking, while Bomba himself reigns over the party like a Carnival King from a huge throne. On a more mundane note, Wednesday and Sunday nights feature lie reggae music.

Da Wedding Cane Garden Bay phone 284/495-4236. Local calypso stars the Lashing Dogs frequently play here; otherwise, come Wednesday night for fungi music by the Lover Boys as well as the fish fry.

Elm Beach Bar Cane Garden Bay phone 284/494-2888. Lively and friendly place with Pan music every Friday 5-8pm.

Jolly Roger West End phone 284/495-4559. Rock 'n' roll is the music of choice here every Friday and Saturday night, with dancing on the outdoor patio overlooking Soper's Hole. Near the West End ferry dock.

Myett's Cane Garden Bay phone 284/495-9543. Lie music - reggae cover versions, rock, steel pan - Friday through Monday nights and a daily sunset happy hour and barbecue 5-7pm.

Pusser's Landing Soper's Hole phone 284/495-4554. They do a little bit of everything here: happy hour deals (5-7pm), 25¢ chicken wings, daytime pig roasts, lie music on weekend evenings and steel drums during Sunday brunch. Call ahead for details on upcoming events.

Quito's Gazebo Cane Garden Bay phone 284/495-4837. Reggave performer Quito Rhymer plays at his own restaurant and bar, singing Marley-esque songs with his band, The Edge, on Friday and Saturday nights and putting out a more mellow, acoustic set on Tuesday and Thursday. One of the few places on the island where everyone from yachters and tourists to locals and the hardcore reggae crowd get together and pack the dance floor. Arrive early (before 9pm) to bag a spot and avoid the cover charge.

Sebastian's Little Apple Bay phone 284/495-4212. Lie entertainment Friday and Saturday; Sunday night is fungi by local band, The Spark Plugs.
