Búzios is the place for people who appreciate good food. There are French, Italian, Moroccan, Thai and other restaurants to please the most demanding tastes. The huge amount of foreigners that came for a weekend but ended up moving here, is the reason for this diversity, having brought the secrets and spices from their countries. Fish and seafood are the main local dishes. After all, Búzios did originate as a small fishing village and is surrounded by beaches on all sides.

Most of the restaurants are on Rua das Pedras or along the Bardot Beachfront, the beautiful section that connects Rua das Pedras to Ossos Beach, where Búzios was born. The Cigalon is in the same house at Rua das Pedras that Brigitte Bardot chose to spend her days in Búzios in the 60's. There is a French touch to their dishes. Honey chicken breast with ginger, melon and spices or large shrimp with "coffee mignonette", sweet mashed potatoes and vanilla, are some of the dishes offered by chef Sonia Persiani.

Just a few steps away, is Chez Brigitte. The entrance is through a small, well-hidden door, leading right into the action. This place captures what Búzios really is: charming, easy going and with a certain air of sophistication. The restaurant faces the ocean and is part of Brigitta's Guest House. Brigitta, the owner, is a charming Czech who speaks four languages, as advertised by the sign at the entrance. Grilled fish and seafood is their specialty, but they also serve sliced sirloin or sausages served with baked potato and sauces.

"S´Essa Rua Fosse Minha", which opened in 2004 and is filled with charm and good taste. This building, halfway down Rua das Pedras, formerly housed the art gallery of Abigail Schelmm.

The tables are set in a rustic and very pleasant environment, and the menu offers good variety. You can also sit at the delightful varanda overlooking the ocean and the Canto Beach. They specialize in seafood. A prime example is their grilled cavaca with caper sauce and grated potatoes.

Another great tip is the popular Bar do Zé, which despite the name, is actually an authentic restaurant. With a Búzios style and the view of the Bardot Beachfront, everyone's heart skips a beat. The dishes are served on engraved tables and are candle lit. The kitchen serves delicious risottos, like shrimp with brie, asparagus and truffle oil, fish like snowy grouper served with a combination of mushrooms and fresh pasta and meat.
