Great and Little Exuma are easily explored by rental car, as the island roads are
relatively flat. Three
companies with reasonable vehicles are Airport Rent-a-Car (phone
242/345 0090 or 358 8049), Thompson's Rentals (phone 242/336-2442), in
the centre of George Town, and Uptown Rent-A-Car (phone 242/336-2822),
across the street. All charge around US$70 a day, plus a $200
deposit.
Birdsong and picturesque rest stops make traveling by motor scooter or
bicycle a fun way to get around, especially heading south from the
capital. You can rent well-maintained 21-speed bikes at Starfish The
Exuma Activity Centre (phone 242/336 3033) for US$15 for a half-day and
$100 per week. The Exuma Dive Centre (phone 242/336-2390) and Prestige
Cycle Rentals (phone 242/345-4250), opposite Regatta Park, rent motor
scooters for US$35 a day or $175 per week.
