Clean sand and shady palm trees make this one of the city's most popular beaches-but it's the
volleyball nets that attract huge crowds all year around, for tournaments and pick-up games. Runners and in-line skaters break at benches along the paved bike path, while college kids and families mingle
in the picnic
pavilions and around the skateboard and playground areas.

East Beach is a great destination for a romantic stroll, but its popularity peaks each Sunday during the free arts and crafts show. From 10am to sundown, local
vendors line the strand for a half-mile along
Cabrillo
Boulevard, displaying work that runs the gamut from oil-painted flower canvases and big-eyed clown prints to eclectic plant holders and batik baby clothes. Hand-holding couples wander through the stands, weaving through random entertainers and families pedaling away on tandem bicycles.
