The war between England and France is called the French and Indian War (175463). Both France and England had Native American allies in the war. The Algonquin people sided with the French, and the Iroquois usually supported the British, who were their trading partners. Frontier settlements in New York suffered greatly from raids during the war. Major battles were fought at Forts Niagara, Oswego, Ticonderoga, William Henry, and Crown Point. eventually, the combined British and Iroquois forces defeated the French at Quebec, Canada, in 1759.
