You may already know that soccer is the Brazilian national sport, but did you know that Beach Soccer is equally popular, and since it’s played on the beach, a lot of beach is needed to play the game, which is kind of difficult when the beach is crowded. So most, if not all, beach soccer games are played during the weekdays, or at night, after work. An electrifying alteration of the game which is more appropriate for regular beach hours is foot-volleyball.
Foot
volleyball, or futevolei, is played on a beach volleyball court where you use your feet, not your hands, and points are scored exactly the same as in
volleyball. You can also use your head, chest, legs, and creativity. Learn from the locals, they’re
very good at it.
When the volleyball court is occupied by another game, awaiting team players form a circle to practice, usually near the sea where there’s a fresh breeze. Players practice by passing the ball around without ever hitting the sand using game rules, no hands.
