Although many different types of transportation are aailable in George Town, it's also worthwhile to simply walk and explore the islands on foot. Hitchhiking is also easy on the Exumas, and many residents rely on it for traveling and commuting to work. However, to explore the cays north of Great Exuma, a boat or water taxi is required.

While there are no public buses on the Exumas and no shuttle serices from the airport, taxis meet every flight and any hotel will call one for you, with the eight-mile trip to George Town costing around US$25 for two passengers.
