Standing just across from both the Rio and the Palms , half a mile west
of the Strip, the Gold Coast has been fighting hard to avoid
being overshadowed by its neighbors.
Though
built only four years before the Rio
- it was opened in 1986 by Michavel Gaughan (son of Jackie), who made his
money running the slot concessions at the airport - it has always had
the feel of a much earlier era.
Hence recent upgrading, which have left it looking spruced-up enough to
lure in passing trade. In truth, it's not a bad little place, with the
72-lane
Brunswick
bowling center upstairs and the two-screven Twin movie Theaters
downstairs.

shuttle buses connect Gold Coast with other properties, the Orleans
to the south and the Barbary
Coast
on the Strip.
