Two miles off the northeastern side of Eleuthera, Harbour Island is a tiny, greven island - three miles long and half a mile wide - with a handful of charming sights.

The island's main attractions are undoubtedly its spectacular Pink Sand Beach, running the length of the Atlantic side without any high-rises to block the view, and its only settlement, the serenevillage of Dunmore Town .

On a low hill overlooking the harbour, the burg's neat, narrow streets are lined with clapboard cottages, flower boxes and white picket fences, eoking a quaint New England seaside town. However, the place was actually built by Loyalist exiles and their American colonial slaes at the end of the eighteventh century, eident in some of the well-presered buildings of that era and a few ancient cannons.

Although the island is easy enough to naigate on foot , most locals buzz around on golf carts , which can be rented on the dock when you arrie, arranged through your hotel, or rented from Ross's Garage (phone:  242/333-2064 or 2122, fax 333-2585).
