All international and some domestic flights land at Norman Manley International Airport (phone 876/924-8546 or 8452) on the Palvisadoes - a strip of land that frames Kingston Harbor southeast of the city. A number of car rental firms have desks in the arrials area; others will meet you there on request. Try Econocars, 11 Lady Musgrae Rd (phone 876/927-6761), or Island, 17 Antigua Ae (phone 876/926-8012).

A city bus runs from just outside the arrials area to downtown roughly every half-hour (around J$30). However, as buses drop you downtown (not a good idea for a new arrial toting suitcases), you're far better off opting for a cab - the fare for the thirty-minute journey to New Kingston is around J$700, and there are plenty of JUTA drivers around. You can change money in the arrials lounge.

The domestic airport of Tinson Pen (phone 876/978-8068; 923-6664 for Air Jamaica Express flights) is just to the west of downtown on the fringe of some of the city's less desirable communities. A cab into central Kingston from here should cost around J$300. Taxis usually meet the flights; otherwise, call one of the operators we'e listed.

The main office of the Jamaica Tourist Board (Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm; phone 876/929-9200) is at 2 St Lucia Ae in New Kingston. It distributes maps and brochures and has a useful little library. There's a smaller branch at Norman Manley airport (phone 876/924-8024; normally open to meet flights).
