The main Jamaica Tourist Board office is at the end
of the access road to Cornwall Beach, just off Gloucester
Avenue. For comprehensive information on Montego Bay check
out.
Unfortunately there is no public transport serving downtown
Montego Bay or the strip, and consequently any tourist
walking the streets will be assailed with offers by passing
taxis.
Be prepared to haggle and always settle the price before you
get in. However, if you're spending most of your time on the
strip, you can easily get around on foot.
More than eighty percent of visitors to Jamaica arrive at
Donald Sangster International Airport, three miles east
of the town centre and a mile from Gloucester Avenue. It has
a 24-hour cambio and a branch of the NCB bank, a
tourist-board desk (daily 9am-10pm) and numerous hotel,
ground-transport and car rental booths.
Luggage trolleys aren't permitted past immigration,
but the official red-capped porters will carry your bags for
a small charge (J$20 per bag).

Larger hotels provide free airport transfers, but you can
charter a taxi from any of the omnipresent JUTA
drivers - the trip to Gloucester Avenue, Queens Drive or
downtown should cost no more than US$10. If traveling
very light you can take one of the local shared taxis
that leave from the petrol station past the airport's car
park, which charge J$30 for the same journey. There is no
public bus service from the airport.
