Negril caters to a cosmopolitan crowd and the classiest,
albeit somewhat pricey, dining is likely to be found in
hotel restaurants; the best of these are included in the
listings.
Thanks to Negril's hippy associations, there are plenty of
vegetarian options, and you'll also find a lot of
pasta, as the area attracts a huge number of young
Italians. Vendors based at the first stretch of West End
Road sell roast or fried fish, jerk chicken and soup.
Sheffield Road
Sweet Spice
The best place on Sheffield Road for cheap, delicious
Jamaican food to take away or eat in.
The Beach
Alfred's Ocean Palace
tel 876/957-4735. Hearty American-style breakfasts are
accompanied by live piano music. Crepes and sandwiches are
served at lunch, and seafood, blackened chicken and pasta in
the evenings.

Inexpensive pizzeria and ice-cream parlor on the beach with

Blue Mountain Coffee Shop

pancakes, callaloo omelet’s served up cheaply.
Cosmo's
tel 876/957-4330. One of the best, busiest spots on the
beach, equally popular with Jamaicans and tourists.
Excellent, moderately priced seafood - conch soup is a
specialty - and the usual selection of chicken variations.
Hunan Garden
Country Country hotel tel 876/957-4359. Excellent,
though slightly pricey Chinese restaurant in attractive
dining room. Eat in or take out.
Kuyaba
tel 876/957-4318. Upscale thatch-roofed, open-sided
restaurant with good food and regular crowds. The menu
includes lobster and shrimp, crab and pumpkin cakes,
vegetarian dishes and pasta. Good cocktails, too.

Friendly owners, especially welcoming to solo women

seafood as well. A walled courtyard affords privacy, and the
fairly priced food is always good. Don't miss the coconut
cream pie.

the sea, with excellent service and an expensive menu that
includes vegetable tempura, seafood linguine with garlic and
