Shaded by pines and casuarinas, the S.C. Bootle Highway through
Little Abaco passes a number of quiet beaches. The scenery here is
much the same as on Great Abaco, although there are more rocky hills
and the forest is denser. By the time you pass Cedar Harbour, the
shores are overtaken by rock-shallows, and finally heavy mangroves.
Cedar Harbour is the largest settlement on Little Abaco - though that
isn't saying much. Nettie's Snack Bar offers a pleasant place for conch
and fried fish. Eight miles west in Fox Town , local Gladys Saunders
operates the Tangelo Hotel (tel 242/365-2222), which has twelve plainly
furnished and basic rooms with A/C, TV and both double or twin beds. The
small restaurant serves basic fish dishes for US$8. The end of the line
is tiny Crown Haven , a quiet tumbledown village with a wooden wharf and
a struggling lobster business.

Taxi rides to Little Abaco from Marsh Harbour are quite expensive,
averaging about US$60 (somewhat less from Treasure Cay). If you want to
stay at the Tangelo , call ahead, and the owners will send a car for
you.
