New
Museum of Contemporary Art
Regularly changing exhibitions by contemporary American and
international artists. Offbeat and eclectic, the
New
Museum
will mount risky works that other museums are unable - or unwilling - to
show. Pick up the museum's calendar for details on current and
forthcoming exhibits and lectures.

Prince
Street
SoHo celebrates its architecture in Richard Haas's smirky mural
at 114 Prince St (corner of Greene St), also the venue of one of SoHo's
affordable markets (there's another at the meeting of Spring and
Wooster streets). Many of the clothes and antique shops around are
beyond reasonable budgets, although Prince and the other SoHo streets
have their fair share of chain clothing stores you'd find in any
reputable mall. Bargain treasures and pure bric-a-brac can also be found
at the Antique Flea Market , held every weekend on the southeast
corner of Grand Street and Broadway.
What you'll find in SoHo's galleries is similarly overpriced, but
no one minds you looking in for a while, and doing this is also a sure
way of bumping into the more visible eccentrics of the area. Most of the
galleries are concentrated on West Broadway and Prince Street, though a
fair share have opened on Grand between West Broadway and Broadway.
They're generally open from Labor Day to Memorial Day, Tuesday-Saturday
10/11am-6pm, Saturdays being most lively.
