Only tourists who make the excursion to Mount Charleston are likely to stumble across Santa Fe Station, eight miles up Rancho drive in the far northwestern corner of town. even then, there's little reason to stop, though it does offer the usual good-value buffet and restaurants, including a Memphis Barbecue joint.

For Las Vegas residents, however, it's a different story. As the only casino to have its own public ice rink, the Santa Fe is literally the coolest place in the city. Local kids fill the Ice Arena on weekends, while their parents while away the hours either in the adjoining 24-hour bowling center, or watching from the buffet or casino.

The Southwestern theming is minimal.
4949 N Rancho drive.
