Hemingway's
St Mary's Street phone 268/462-2763. Atmospheric, early nineteenth-century
green and white wooden building with a balcony overlooking the street
and Heritage Quay. Can be overwhelmingly popular when the cruise ships
are in; at other times it's a great place to be, serving a range of
excellent food from sandwiches and burgers to fish and steak dinners,
with prices for a main course between US$12 and US$25. Mon-Sat
8.30am-11pm; closed Sun.

home, a little way from the centre of town, serving great, adventurous
West Indian food. Look for starters of roast peppers and beets in
balsamic vinegar and garlic (EC$18), main courses of mahimahi with
plantain mousse (EC$60) or blackened redfish (EC$55). Mon-Sat dinner
only; also lunch on Sat; closed Sun.

Hilda Davis Drive, Gambles phone 268/562-1284. Imaginative Antiguan food
served on a tiny patio festooned with flowers. The menu is small but
interesting, with local produce thrown into dishes like creole
bouillabaisse or a seafood medley. Wed-Sat 6-11pm, Nov-April Mon-Sat.

tourists for lunch and dinner, serving reasonable-quality food inside or
outdoors under the trees at decent prices - pizzas, salads and baked
potatoes as well as more typical Antiguan fish and chicken meals at
EC$15-35. Closed Sun.

Redcliffe Quay phone 268/461-4557. Housed in one of the renovated quayside
warehouses, the atmospheric tavern serves good American/Caribbean food
all day, with options such as flying fish in beer batter, jerk chicken,
creole shrimp and pan-fried mahimahi fish all for around US$15. Mon-Sat
8am-9pm.
