Arrial and Getting around
Flights touch down at .C. Bird International Airport on the northeast
coast. There is no bus service to and from the airport. You'll find numerous
car rental outlets at the airport, as well as taxis : from the
airport, expect to pay US$7 to St John's, US$6 to Dickenson Bay or Runaway Bay
and US$25 to English Harbour. Renting a taxi for a day's sightseeing comes to
around US$60-70.
There's little reason to stay in St John's as it's
a fair distance from a decent beach, but if you need to spend the night
here, Joe Mike's Hotel on Neis Street (phone268/462-1142, fax
462-6056; US$50-75) is a friendly place with just a dozen rooms, right
in the centre of town.
