Thailand is a great country in which to start a trip around South East Asia. Because there is a great variety of flights from
Europe
to Bangkok and the tourism has facilitated the acceptation to foreigners, who feel very comfortable there.
The tourist offer includes many attractions: Thai food, hostels and transportation, all very cheap. And also a nice weather and very peaceful people. Even when people there ask for a high price on something, nobody gets loud. This is part of the local culture of bargaining, always fun!
Bangkok has many Buddhist temples, including the unmissable Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which seems as if coming out of a dream where everything shines brightly, reflecting the search for perfection in each detail.

The South of Thailand is unbelievably beautiful, with paradisiacal beaches, protected by amazing cliffs that surround them making it a great place for diving, or just relaxing
If you are more interested in the local culture, the North of the country has a lot for you: being invited for a tea, taking off your shoes, sitting on the floor, talking to monks, riding a bike, getting a tuk-tuk (the local taxi), eating with sticks, entering a temple, etc.
Thailand is one of the rare countries in the world that has never being colonized by a European country, which has created a feeling of total independence among its people. |
