Rameshwaram Temple

This old temple in Kollam dates back to the 12th century and is said to have been built in the Pandian style of architecture. This is one of four Shiva temples erected by the Natukotta Chettiar, a renowned merchant caste who were Shiva worshipers. The sculpture of Vyala, the mythical monster, is one of the temple’s most interesting features. There are many Tamil inscriptions here that range from the 12th to the 16th centuries. Every year in January/February, the annual temple celebration is held. This is most likely one of Kollam’s most popular tourist attractions!

Munroe Island

Munroe Island, 26 kilometres from Kollam, is named after Colonel Munroe, a British resident of Travancore. It is located at the confluence of the Astamudi Lake and the Kallada River. Munroe Island, also known as Mundrothuruthu, is a beautiful and majestic inland island noted for its breathtaking beauty and breathtaking views. This hidden gem is made up of eight islands that are connected by tiny water canals and lakes. Munroe Island is connected by boat to the islands of Pattomthuruthu and Pezhumthuruthu. Kottukkal Cave Temple

The Kottukkal Cave Temple is a magnificent and tranquil rock-cut temple dedicated to Lord Shiva that is located in Kotthukkal hamlet on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kottayam MC Road. Kothiya Kallu, or carved rock, is the source of the name Kottukal. In Malayalam, the temple is also known as Kaltrikkovil. This temple contains two caves, one in which Nandi Bull is enshrined and the other in which Lord Hanuman is housed. The idol of Lord Ganapathy may be seen between these caves. The temple is a stunning example of rock cut architecture from the 6th to 8th centuries CE, and architectural scholars and religious worshippers alike admire it.

Paravur Lake

Paravur Lake, also known as Paravur Kayal, is one of Kollam’s most popular lakes. The glistening seas are a feast for the eyes. It’s a tiny lake, but it’s a great place for residents to come out and spend a day out in nature. The mangroves that line both sides of the lake add to its beauty and make it more appealing. The Priyadarshini watercraft club is another popular attraction in the Paravur Lake area. The most popular activities here are swimming and surfing, followed by fishing, which needs permission from the local government. Kottankulangara Devi Temple

The goddess Durga Bhagavathy, incarnation of Ma Parvati, is honoured in the Kottankulangara Devi Temple in Chavara. Tourists are drawn to the temple because of its unusual construction, which has no roof above the sanctuary. At the Kottankulangara Festival, the only temple in India performs a unique rite in which males dress up as women (annual festival). There is a unique ceremony known as ‘Chamaya Vilakku,’ in which a group of young ladies march to the temple at night with lighted lamps in their hands, offering payasam, aravana, iratti madhuram, and jewels, silks, and other items.
